What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms, class sign ups and newsletters

If you use the contact form to reach out to us or sign up for a class, we will receive your name and email address. If you sign up to the newsletter, we will receive your email address and/or name. You can unsubscribe at any time from receiving messages from us.

We use https://mailchimp.com/ for our newsletter and campaigns.
MailChimp is one of the best marketing automation platforms and is GDPR compliant. They have a campaign builder that makes it easy to create email templates. In MailChimp, we only store your email address and your name, when it is provided. With your permission, we may send you emails about our store, new products and other updates.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to track visitors on this site.Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data. Who we share your data with

No personal information obtained about you from this website is disclosed to third parties. If in the future we should wish to disclose information collected on this website to a third party, it would only be with your knowledge and consent. We may occasionally provide general information third parties — for example, the number of individuals visiting the website, but no information would be included that could identify those individuals.

How long we retain your data

If you sign up to the newsletter, you will be given the option to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data and privacy

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.
